Syncio vs StockUnison, from one side of the fence

Written by StockUnison, so read accordingly — but the differences are structural and checkable: what each app syncs, how each is priced, and the setups where Syncio is plainly the better choice.

Updated 25 August 2026

This comparison is written by one of its subjects. We think that is manageable, for one reason: almost every difference between Syncio and StockUnison is structural — what gets synced, which direction, what is priced on which axis — and structural claims can be checked against both apps’ public listings in about ten minutes. Where a judgement call appears below, it is labelled as one. And the second section is a plain list of setups where the answer is Syncio.

The short version: Syncio is broad and proven; StockUnison is narrow and new. Syncio syncs inventory, product fields, orders and payouts across stores that may belong to different businesses, and has seven years and a 4.8-average review record behind it. StockUnison syncs inventory quantities only, one way, between stores that belong to you, and is built around refusing to guess: preview mode before live, duplicates skipped and reported, conditional writes, everything logged. Which one fits is mostly decided by which of those two sentences describes your stores.

Choose Syncio when

  • The stores belong to different businesses. A supplier stocking retailer stores, or a retailer pulling from several suppliers — Syncio’s order forwarding, payout splits and partner marketplace exist precisely for this, and StockUnison has nothing in the category.
  • You need product fields to flow, not just quantities — images, prices, tags, descriptions, via its Product Settings add-on.
  • You need orders pushed from a destination store back to the source for fulfilment.
  • One side is WooCommerce. StockUnison is Shopify-to-Shopify only.
  • You match on barcode, which Syncio supports beside SKU; StockUnison matches on SKU alone.
  • A track record is a requirement. Syncio launched in 2018 and shows a 4.8 average across 153 reviews as of today; StockUnison launched in August 2026 and has none yet. If you cannot extend trust to a new tool — a defensible position with inventory — this row alone decides it.

Choose StockUnison when

  • The stores are all yours and share one physical stock pool. No marketplace, no partner vocabulary, no order flows — one source store, destinations that follow it. This is the hub-and-spoke model as an app, and nothing else.
  • The duplicates are inside one store, not between two. Since September 2026 StockUnison also lets every product carrying the same SKU share one count, which works with a single store and is a job Syncio does not do at all. If that is your actual problem, the nearer comparison is Trunk, not Syncio.
  • You want the sync to refuse rather than guess. Ambiguous SKU matches are reported and never synced; no product is ever created or deleted in a destination; every connection starts in preview mode; every write is a conditional compare-and-set, logged with its result.
  • Your catalogue is large and your store count is small. Per-destination pricing does not step up when you add products — the axis that surprises people at renewal elsewhere.
  • You want to verify against real data before anything writes. The free plan runs matching, preview mode and difference checks on an unlimited catalogue, indefinitely — it is capped by capability (no destination writes), not by product count.

The pricing axes, worked through

The judgement call in most comparisons is hidden in the pricing model, so here it is in the open. Syncio’s product-count tiers are kindest to small catalogues — 25 products syncing free is a real free plan — and grow with your catalogue whether or not your store count changes. StockUnison’s per-destination pricing is kindest to large catalogues on few stores, and grows only when you connect more live stores. Neither axis is virtuous; they just fail differently. Price your actual shape on both before deciding, and include Syncio’s add-ons if you need orders or product fields — those are the rows that move its effective price most.

If you are considering a switch

The boring, reversible path — consistent with the general switching advice:

  1. Install StockUnison free beside Syncio. It will not write, so there is no interaction between them.
  2. Compare its match report with what Syncio believes is paired. Disagreements are almost always SKU hygiene surfacing, and worth fixing whichever app wins.
  3. Let the drift report run for a week as an independent audit of the current sync.
  4. Decide on evidence. If you switch: ask Syncio’s support in writing what its disconnect changes, disconnect one destination, and go live on StockUnison for that store first.

The bottom line

If your stores form a supplier–retailer network, or you need product fields, orders or payouts to move — Syncio, without much of a contest. If your stores are your own, share one shelf, and what you want from a sync is that it never guesses and can prove what it did — that is the single job StockUnison was built for, and the free plan will demonstrate it against your real catalogue before you trust it with a write.

Two stores. One truth.

StockUnison mirrors one store's stock into every other store you connect — matched by SKU, previewed in dry run, and logged write by write.
